Our
aim is to build the world's largest scale model of the
Solar System, in the UK. The Sun will be located at the
world-famous Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire, with
six of its attendant planets dotted around the North West
of England ...
- An exciting fusion of Science, Technology and Art
- 18 'artistic installations' will represent the Sun,
planets, Halley's comet asteroids and Kuiper Belt
objects
- Models to be sited within school grounds and sites
of astronomical interest
- A scale of 1:15 million will embrace the whole UK,
from Cornwall to the Shetland Isles
- Major involvement of school pupils and local communities
- A unique national resource for education and public
outreach
- Nine installations to be completed by Spring 2005
- A fully-featured website, which will act as the
hub of the SpacedOut project allowing users to, access
each object via its own home page, browse image galleries
and take part in fun interactive quizzes.
The SpacedOut project was
launched to much acclaim in March 2004, during National
Science Week. To view our project Launch page, please

We would like to gratefully
acknowledge our sponsors, who have enabled us to get our
exciting project off the ground.
